Mundo Alpaca Arequipa
Mundo Alpaca Arequipa represents a great cultural and touristic contribution to the White City -world capital of Alpaca- that seeks to expose and bring to the world our millenary cultural wealth, allowing its visitors -at no cost and in an integral way- to appreciate and "live" the Alpaca experience, interacting directly with these animals in a beautiful natural environment. In addition, they will be able to see live the ancestral technique of manual classification of the fiber, as well as the exhibition of the extraordinary traditional process of the backstrap loom.
The Mundo Alpaca experience is complemented by the interesting and unique museum of textile machinery in the country, as well as a small - but invaluable - exhibition of pre-Columbian textiles from important cultures of southern Peru at the Amano-Michell Museum, home of the first pre-Columbian textile museum in Peru.

You will be able to interact with different breeds of Alpacas and Llamas, discovering their origin, evolution and history, habitat, domestication, among other wonderful and interesting curiosities. Did you know that Vicuña fiber is the finest in the world? On your tour of Mundo Alpaca Arequipa, you will learn about the process of preparing this fiber, which consists mainly of removing the bristle -which is naturally found between the thin hair- from the fleece by hand.

The First Textile Machinery Museum of Peru
Take a walk through this interesting Textile Machinery Museum -unique in the country- and learn about the origins of the industrialization of Alpaca fiber in the world, through interesting machines from the beginning of the last century, which include didactic explanations of the industrial process, from the classification of the fiber to the finished product.

Michell Art Contest
Since 1981, Michell & Cia. annually convenes hundreds of painters to the oldest Art Contest at national level, whose results are widely disseminated through exhibitions in various parts of the country, making this contest, without a doubt, the most important in Peru in the artistic field, and one of the most notable in America.
Visit our exhibition rooms and enjoy the winning works of the contest sponsored by Michell y Cia., both in watercolor and oil techniques, as well as awarded traditional textiles.

AMANO MUSEUM
Amano-Michell Pre-Columbian Museum: the history of our textile industry
Relatively small, but impeccable and spectacular in cultural content, the Amano-Michell Museum (the first Pre-Columbian Textile Museum in Peru), exhibits unique and exceptional pieces of great Peruvian cultures, such as Paracas, Nasca, Wari, Chancay and Siguas, the last one standing out for being native of the Arequipa region.
This museum is an invaluable contribution towards the conservation and preservation of pre-Columbian textiles and Peruvian cultural history, as it offers a unique experience to all local and foreign visitors who seek the opportunity to experience an enriching encounter with the millenary textile tradition that is part of Peru's and humanity's cultural heritage.
